A Note from CBTB Artistic Director

Dear Friends:

What a momentous winter this has been for us. Our Transformation dance concert was a triumph. We enjoyed a full house of enthusiastic school children for our Orphan Train educational performance. The evening performance was attended by dignitaries and covered by the Bay News. At the end of February, we had the privilege to perform at an afternoon dance showcase at the New York City College of Technology in downtown Brooklyn. We received two arts-in-education dance residency grants, and are thrilled about two burgeoning projects: taking Orphan Train to the Mid-West and airing one of our performances on Brooklyn Cable Access Television.  (please read articles for details on all this and more)

BUT, nothing can compare with the jubilant news that WE ARE MOVING!

Can you see me leaping for joy? I am also simultaneously falling to my knees in gratitude to my Father in Heaven for answering prayers—particularly for our incredibly generous sponsors, who are making our new home a reality.

CBTB’s new home is at 2085 Coney Island Avenue (between Kings Highway and Avenue R)—a whopping 3,400 square feet of storefront and basement space to fulfill all our needs and dreams. You can imagine what grand opening festivities we are planning!

CBTB’s 2008 transformation year has leapt right out of the starting gate and is gaining wonderful momentum. Thank you for being part of the “engine” that is driving us to amazing destinations and allowing us to explore exciting ways of spreading the love of dance here in Brooklyn and beyond!

Thank you from the bottom of my heart,

Marla A. Hirokawa

Groundbreaking MOVE!

Our dream has come true!! Covenant Ballet Theatre of Brooklyn has a new home at 2085 Coney Island Avenue (between Kings Highway and Avenue R).  The new location is in close proximity to a busy commercial area that will offer the company and academy greater visibility and accessibility by public transportation.  The four-lane Coney Island Avenue will allow for easier drop off and pick up of our students, while metered and neighborhood parking is available in front and around the adjoining blocks.  There is even a commercial parking garage nearby for longer term parking.

Take a look at what is there in our new 3,400  square foot home:

· two dance studios with sprung floors (special  resilient floors that reduce impact and injuries)
·
 central air conditioning and heating
·
a small music room to offer music/voice instruction
·
 gender specific dressing rooms
· numerous bathrooms
